Overview
Invitation-only cards cannot be applied for. Issuers extend them to existing customers meeting internal criteria — typically substantial relationship value, high spending, or private banking status.
The benefits are usually the issuer's best: unlimited lounge access with guests, the highest reward rates, dedicated relationship management, and access to events and experiences not otherwise available.
The exclusivity is real and it is also the point of sale. An invitation is a compliment and not an argument, and the same arithmetic applies as to any other card — benefits you will use, valued honestly, against a fee that is usually the highest in the market.
Who should consider it
Existing customers who have received an invitation and spend at a level that uses the benefits. Private banking clients for whom the card complements an existing relationship.
Anyone who cannot use most of the benefits is paying a very high fee for exclusivity, and it is worth naming that clearly.
Benefits
- The issuer's highest reward rates and benefit levels
- Unlimited lounge access, frequently including guests
- Dedicated relationship management and priority servicing
- Access to invitation-only events and experiences
- Highest credit limits and most flexible terms
- Concierge services with genuine capability
What is included, and what is not
Read the right-hand column first. It is the one that tends to surprise people later.
Included

- Comprehensive insurance benefits
Not included
- Application — these cards are issued by invitation only
- Benefits you do not use

Terms vary between providers and between plans from the same provider. The offer document you receive is what governs — we will walk you through it before you commit.
How it works with us
- 1 We total the benefits in rupees against the fee Vouchers, lounge visits, memberships and milestone rewards, added up honestly against what the card costs each year.
- 2 Only benefits you will actually use are counted A golf membership you will not use is worth zero, whatever the brochure values it at.
- 3 Eligibility checked before applying Premium cards have real income criteria and some are invitation-only. Applying without the profile marks your credit file for nothing.
- 4 Application supported with the right documentation Income evidence and existing relationship details, prepared once and properly.
- 5 Reviewed annually against actual usage A premium card is worth holding only while you use it. We revisit that each renewal rather than letting it run.
Important considerations
The things a brochure tends to leave out. Read these before you decide.
- An invitation is a compliment, not an analysis. The same arithmetic applies: benefits you will use, valued honestly, against a fee that is usually the market's highest.
- Ask what specifically differs from the issuer's applied-for premium card. Sometimes the gap is substantial and sometimes it is mostly presentational.
- These fees are not waived. Treat the cost as certain and the benefits as conditional on your usage.
- The relationship servicing is frequently the most genuinely valuable element for the right holder, and the hardest to value in advance.
- Review annually against actual usage, exactly as with any other premium card.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I apply for one of these cards?
No — that is what invitation-only means. Issuers extend them to existing customers meeting internal criteria, typically substantial relationship value, high spending or private banking status. Building the relationship is the only route.
How is it different from the issuer's top applied-for card?
Sometimes substantially — higher limits, unlimited guest lounge access, dedicated servicing and access to events. Sometimes the gap is mostly presentational. Asking for a specific comparison is worthwhile before accepting.
Does the exclusivity justify the fee?
Only if the benefits do. An invitation is a compliment rather than an economic argument, and these carry the highest fees in the market. If you cannot use most of the bundle, you are paying a very large amount for exclusivity — which is a legitimate choice, worth making knowingly.
Is the fee ever waived?
No. These cards do not offer spending-based waivers. The fee is a certain annual cost against benefits that are conditional on your using them.
What is genuinely most valuable?
For most holders, the dedicated relationship servicing and the highest limits, both of which are hard to value in advance and become apparent in use. The lounge and travel benefits are calculable; the servicing is the part people end up valuing most.
