Overview
Lounge access cards provide complimentary entry to airport lounges, either through a membership programme or through direct arrangements with lounge operators. It is one of the few card benefits with a clear, calculable rupee value.
The arithmetic is straightforward. A lounge visit purchased at the counter typically costs a few thousand rupees, so a card offering a meaningful number of complimentary visits can justify its fee on that benefit alone.
What determines whether it does is the number of visits, whether guests are included, and the conditions attached. Many cards require a minimum spend in the preceding quarter before visits are granted, and cards that offer "unlimited" access usually cap it in practice.
Who should consider it
Frequent flyers who use lounges. Business travellers with regular airport time. Travellers with long layovers or early departures. Anyone who currently pays for lounge access at the counter.

How it works with us
- 1 We separate the two products first A forex card is prepaid and locks a rate. A travel credit card earns rewards on spending. Different problems, different answers.
- 2 Travel pattern drives the choice How often you fly, which airlines, whether you use lounges, and where you spend abroad. The card follows that, not the brochure.
- 3 Benefit value calculated in rupees Lounge visits, miles and insurance converted to a real number against a real annual fee.
- 4 Application matched to eligibility Premium travel cards have income criteria. We apply where the profile fits rather than collecting rejections.
- 5 Set up for full payment and safe use abroad Auto-debit in full, international usage enabled, and the fraud reporting numbers saved before you travel.
Important considerations
The things a brochure tends to leave out. Read these before you decide.
- Multiply your realistic annual visits by the counter rate and compare against the fee. That single calculation answers whether the card is worth holding.
- Check whether a minimum spend in the preceding quarter is required. Many cards grant visits only after that threshold is met, which catches lighter spenders out.
- "Unlimited" access is usually capped in practice. Read the actual allowance rather than the description.
- Guest access matters if you usually travel with someone. A card offering visits for you alone is worth half as much to a couple.
- Lounges at busy airports sometimes refuse entry at capacity. Complimentary access is a benefit, not a guarantee.
Documents required
- PAN card

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I work out whether it is worth the fee?
Multiply your realistic number of annual lounge visits by the counter rate — typically a few thousand rupees each. If that exceeds the annual fee comfortably, the card pays for itself on this benefit alone. It is one of the few card benefits with a genuinely calculable value.
Why was I refused entry despite having the card?
Usually because a minimum spend condition in the preceding quarter was not met, or because the visit allowance was already exhausted. Some lounges also restrict entry at capacity. Checking the spend condition is worthwhile before relying on access.
Does "unlimited access" really mean unlimited?
Rarely. Most cards described that way cap visits in practice, either per quarter or through the underlying membership programme. Read the stated allowance in the terms rather than the description in the marketing.
Are guests included?
On some cards, and chargeable on others. If you usually travel with a companion, a card that excludes guests is worth half what it appears to be, so this is worth checking specifically.
Is a lounge card better than a general travel card?
It depends on what you use. Lounge access has a clear calculable value; miles and points do not until you redeem them. For a traveller who reliably uses lounges and redeems miles poorly, the lounge card is the more dependable choice.
