Overview
Super premium cards carry annual fees running into tens of thousands of rupees and bundle benefits to match: unlimited lounge access, hotel and airline status, milestone vouchers, concierge services and high reward rates.
The benefits are genuine. Where the arithmetic goes wrong is that issuers value the bundle at its retail price and cardholders use perhaps half of it. A card whose benefits are described as worth a lakh delivers that only to someone who would have bought all of it anyway.
The right test is simple and rarely applied. List the benefits you will genuinely use, value them at what you would otherwise pay, and compare the total against the fee. Many super premium cards clear that test comfortably for the right holder and fail it badly for everyone else.
Who should consider it
High spenders who will reach milestone thresholds. Frequent travellers who use lounges, hotel status and travel benefits regularly. Anyone whose existing spending on the bundled benefits already exceeds the fee.
Cardholders attracted by the status of holding the card rather than by its economics are paying a substantial amount for that feeling.

How it works with us
- 1 We total the benefits in rupees against the fee Vouchers, lounge visits, memberships and milestone rewards, added up honestly against what the card costs each year.
- 2 Only benefits you will actually use are counted A golf membership you will not use is worth zero, whatever the brochure values it at.
- 3 Eligibility checked before applying Premium cards have real income criteria and some are invitation-only. Applying without the profile marks your credit file for nothing.
- 4 Application supported with the right documentation Income evidence and existing relationship details, prepared once and properly.
- 5 Reviewed annually against actual usage A premium card is worth holding only while you use it. We revisit that each renewal rather than letting it run.
Important considerations
The things a brochure tends to leave out. Read these before you decide.
- Value only the benefits you will genuinely use. A brochure total assumes you would have bought everything in it at retail, which almost nobody would.
- Milestone vouchers frequently carry most of the value. Check the spending thresholds against your realistic annual spend before assuming you will reach them.
- These cards rarely waive the fee. Unlike mid-tier cards, the fee is a certainty and the benefits are conditional.
- Review annually. A card that made sense when you travelled every month stops making sense when you do not, and it renews automatically.
- Revolving a balance at around thirty-six per cent destroys any benefit, however premium the card.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know whether the fee is worth it?
List the benefits you will actually use, value each at what you would otherwise have paid, and compare the total against the fee. That is the whole test, and it is rarely applied — issuers value the bundle at retail and most holders use around half of it.
Which benefit usually carries the most value?
Milestone vouchers, on most super premium cards, followed by lounge access if you fly frequently. Both are calculable in rupees, unlike concierge services and status benefits whose value depends entirely on use.
Is the fee ever waived?
Rarely on super premium cards, unlike mid-tier products where a spending threshold triggers a waiver. Treat the fee as a certain annual cost and the benefits as conditional on your using them.
Should I keep the card if my travel reduces?
Probably not. These cards renew automatically, and a card that made sense when you flew monthly stops making sense when you do not. Reviewing at each renewal rather than letting it run is the discipline that matters.
Does the status of holding the card have value?
To some people, genuinely. It is worth being honest that this is what you are paying for, because it is a substantial annual amount for a feeling rather than an economic benefit.
