Claim process
Life insurance claims
The nominee initiates the claim. Complete documentation and an accurate original proposal matter more than anything else.
Have us handle it
Step by step
-
1
Intimate the insurer
The nominee notifies the insurer with the policy number and date of death.
-
2
Submit the claim forms
The insurer issues forms specific to the cause and the policy age. We help complete them.
-
3
Investigation, where applicable
Early claims, typically within three years, are usually investigated. This is routine and not an accusation.
-
4
Settlement
Regulations require settlement within a defined period once documents are complete.
Documents you will need
- Claim intimation and claim form
- Original policy document
- Death certificate
- Nominee ID and address proof
- Medical records where the death was preceded by illness
- FIR and post-mortem report in accidental death
- Cancelled cheque of the nominee
What to expect, and when
- Acknowledgement
- 1–3 days
- Investigation (if applicable)
- 15–30 days
- Settlement after complete documents
- 15–30 days
Timelines are the insurer's, not ours. We chase them when they slip.
Worth knowing before you start
Accurate disclosure at proposal stage is what makes a life claim enforceable. This is why we insist on it when the policy is bought, not when it is claimed.
Claims turn on documents and dates
Send us both before you file. It is far cheaper to fix a file than to appeal a rejection.
